Description
hot fries
Hot fries are the ultimate comfort snack, combining the perfect balance of crispiness and spice. These fries are made from fresh potatoes, thinly sliced and fried or baked until golden brown with a fluffy interior.
They are tossed in a flavorful blend of paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper, giving them a fiery kick that will tantalize your taste buds. The heat from the cayenne is perfectly complemented by the mild sweetness of the potatoes, making each bite irresistibly delicious.
Whether served with ketchup or a spicy hot sauce, these fries are a treat for anyone who loves bold, intense flavors. Garnished with fresh herbs for an added burst of freshness, they are ideal as a side dish or snack for any occasion, especially when you’re craving something hot and crispy.
4 large potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold, cut into thin fries)
2tablespoons olive oil
11 tablespoon paprika
1tablespoon garlic powder
1/2tablespoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
1tablespoon salt
1/2teaspoon black pepper
Fresh herbs (optional, for garnish)
Ketchup or hot sauce (for serving)
Instructions
Prepare the Potatoes: Wash and peel the potatoes, then cut them into thin strips or fries. Soak the fries in cold water for about 10 minutes to remove excess starch.
Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 450°F (230°C) or heat the oil in a deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
Season the Fries: Drain the fries and pat them dry with a clean towel. In a large bowl, toss the fries with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper until they are evenly coated.
Bake or Fry:
For Oven Baking: Place the fries in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20-25 minutes, turning the fries halfway through, until they become golden brown and crispy.
For Frying: Fry the fries in batches for about 4-5 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Take them out of the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
Serve: Garnish with fresh herbs, and serve with your favorite dipping sauces like ketchup or hot sauce for extra heat.
