Safe Slime Recipe: To make slime at home without borax, you'll need glue, baking soda, contact solution, and a bit of glitter. It's a fun and safe activity for kids.
Why Slime on Kitchn? Good question! Slime is just one of the many non-cooking projects that take place in the kitchen. Just like making pasta from scratch, creating slime is a fun way for me to engage with my kids in the kitchen.
Pour the glue into a medium bowl. If desired, add food coloring and glitter, stirring gently. The mixture doesn't need to be perfectly blended at this stage, as it will be mixed further once the baking soda is added.
Sprinkle the baking soda into the glue mixture and stir until the texture is smooth.
Pour in 2 tablespoons of contact lens solution and stir slowly. The mixture will start to thicken and become stringy.
Keep mixing slowly until the mixture forms a ball of slime.
Pick up the slime and knead it between your hands until smooth. If the slime feels too sticky, you can knead in an additional 1/2 tablespoon of contact lens solution as needed.
Once mixed, the slime is ready to play with immediately, or it can be stored for future use.
