1tsp salt
1tbsp sugar
1packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
1 1/4cups warm water (110°F)
1/4cup unsalted butter, melted
6cups water (for boiling)
1/3cup baking soda
1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
Coarse salt (for topping)
Instructions
Prepare Dough: In a bowl, mix flour, salt, and sugar. Activate yeast in warm water and combine with the flour mixture. Add melted butter and knead into a smooth dough for 7-10 minutes. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
Shape Sticks: Preheat oven to 425°F. Divide dough into 12 pieces. Roll each piece into sticks, about 8 inches long.
Boil Pretzels: Boil water in a large pot and dissolve baking soda. Boil pretzel sticks for 30 seconds each, then remove and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake: Brush pretzel sticks with egg wash, sprinkle with coarse salt, and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool and Serve: Allow to cool slightly and enjoy warm!
Note
Tips:
Use parchment paper to prevent sticking.
For extra flavor, sprinkle pretzels with garlic powder, sesame seeds, or cinnamon sugar after the egg wash.
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days; reheat in the oven for crispiness.
