  1. Combine the first eight ingredients in a saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water until dissolved, then pour it into the boiling mixture.
  3. Lower the heat and whisk until the sauce reaches a thick consistency.
