is a simple and fast dish made with toasted pasta, tomatoes, and spices. My mother-in-law shared this recipe with me, and it pairs perfectly with any meat dish, especially carne asada. I often use as a side dish instead of rice.

Ingredients

1 (8-ounce) can of tomato sauce, split into portions
1 tablespoon of chili powder
½ teaspoon of ground cumin
½ teaspoon of garlic salt
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
1 (8-ounce) package of fideo pasta
1 ½ cups of water, split into portions

Instructions

Start by gathering all the ingredients. Heat the oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat, then add the fideo pasta. Cook and stir until the pasta is golden brown and toasted. Add 1 cup of water and half of the tomato sauce to the toasted pasta. Season with chili powder, cumin, and garlic salt, and stir to combine.

Bring the mixture to a boil and continue cooking until most of the liquid reduces. Next, stir in the remaining ½ cup of water and the rest of the tomato sauce. Cover the saucepan and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes, or until the fi-deo is tender and the sauce has thickened.
