  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • For the Cookie Layer:
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups (160g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (175g) chocolate chips
Instructions
  1. brookie recipe
    1. Start by setting your oven to preheat at 350°F (175°C).Prepare an 8x8-inch (20x20 cm) baking pan by greasing it and lining the base with parchment paper for easy removal.

    2. Create the Brownie Base:

      • In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.Once melted, remove it from the heat and blend in the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla until the mixture is smooth and shiny.
      • Mix in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until everything is just combined.Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it out evenly.
    3. Make the Cookie Dough:

      • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until the mixture is light and airy.
      • Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing well to combine.
      • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually incorporate this dry mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Finally, fold in the chocolate chips for an extra chocolatey touch.
    4. Assemble the Brookies:

      • Carefully spoon the cookie dough over the brownie batter in the pan. Spread it evenly, taking care not to mix the two layers; it’s fine if they remain distinct.
    5. Bake to Perfection:

      • Bake the brookies in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. This ensures a fudgy texture.
    6. Cool and Slice:

      • Allow the brookies to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes. Once slightly cooled, lift them out using the parchment paper and let them cool completely on a wire rack before slicing into squares.
